Back To Banuae. Bye, Bye Batad.

Back To Banuae. Bye, Bye Batad.

We woke feeling pretty refreshed (well, thirteen hours of sleep will do that for you), had a small bite amongst our friends, the roosters (damn they're loud at 5am!). One of my favorite things about Batad is that it is SO remote. We're talking no internet, one satellite TV in town I think, blackouts for four hours every night with no power — the locals hang their mobile phones on the clothing line to hopefully get some sort of signal every few hours to hopefully push through a text message or an email.

We then headed off on a four hour trek with our guide, leaving Batad and hiking through a few other villages and their rice fields. Our legs were FEELING IT after yesterday's intense hikes, but we powered through and it felt good. More gorgeous, gorgeous sites from today’s trek.

At the end of our trek, our guide arranged a jeepney to then take us back to Banaue, the main town about a 45 minute drive.

We booked a room at the Banaue Hotel — the nicest place in town! — and took a nice long nap. Then we decided to stay in and relax. Did some writing. Went through some pictures. Ate a bit. And took in the smoky view over the rice terraces of Banaue. We realized we’ve booked a lot on this trip, and when we can find time to just chill out with each other, we’re taking it.

Sweet dreams Banaue
